Tone Deaf Records is open but we haven't partied yet to celebrate this!! We will be having an all day (noon to whenever) grand opening party on Aug 31st!! The party is free and everyone is welcome.

Keeping Your Back Healthy Workshop

If you are tired of dealing with nagging low back pain that can leave you bed-bound, having to take pain pills, feeling stiff all the time, tweaking your back with the smallest activities or going "light" so your back doesn't flare up....THEN THIS WORKSHOP IS FOR YOU!

This workshop will cover
-Proper postures and mechanics to decrease the risk of back injury
-Mobility drills and stretches to decrease your stiffness
-Stability and strength drills to help keep your back strong and ready lift any odd object without worry
-Self maintenance strategies if you do experience a flare-up in the future

The event will be free to Crossfit Chisel and Crossfit Park Ridge members and will be $10 for non-members (to be collected at the door)

About the presenter:
Dr. Fred Sampang is a physical therapist and board certified orthopedic specialist who specializes in treating fitness athletes. Dr. Sampang is passionate about injury prevention with athletes and is on a mission to spread health and wellness through different avenues such as clinics and workshops to educate the general population

Tatas Tacos will be hosting its annual summer dance series, this year called Muevelo Thursdays, every Thursday in August! Join them for a free class on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant at 7pm and then free dance with a partner or some new friends until 9pm.

Each class will feature a different style of dance⁠—salsa, bachata, merengue, and samba⁠—a related snack food, and an expert dance instructor. The final class is this Thursday at 7pm with a free samba class by Bryan Blanco!

Don’t miss this free opportunity to snag some tacos and enjoy the most summery thing of all: dancing in the street!

Jefferson Park Sunday Market

The summer market takes place every 2nd and 4th Sunday of June through October near the corner of Long Avenue and Lawrence Avenue in the beautiful Jefferson Memorial Park. A variety of vendors sell produce, meats, baked goods, cheese, specialty items, sauces, jams, handmade body products, crafts, dog food and treats, and a variety of outreach as well as prepared, ready to eat items.

There will be music from a different performer each week, as well as a children’s story-time at noon at our Ursborne book vendor. In addition, Wildlight Yoga will be conducting Farmer’s Market Yoga at 11:30am on each market date.

Fight for the Title: Battle of the Barbers

All three barbers at Jesse’s Barbershop are in an epic one month fight to see who is the best barber in Chicago’s Northwest Side.

Jesse, Rhett, and Mike are boxing it out by getting as many clients as possible and cutting their hair between August 15 and September 15. After each hair cut, the client will be able to cast their vote for the BEST barber!

Jesse's Barber Shop Chicago will also be making a donation to a local school. Clients will also cast a vote for the school of their choosing. The school with the most votes will get the donation.

Wildlight takes yoga into the barrelroom this summer with Brew + Asana in a collaboration with Lake Effect Brewing Co. Wildlight will provide a 60-minute all levels Vinyasa class that will wrap up with a beer tasting and a free Lake Effect pint glass!

Kilbourn Park Summer Festival

This is a free community-wide outdoor event held in Kilbourn Park, (3501 N Kilbourn Avenue, Chicago IL) that encourages the enhancement of the neighborhood through friendly, lively and neighborly interaction from the entire community, all while bringing the park to life with music, food and fun. This event is produced by the volunteers of the Kilbourn Park Advisory Council in partnership with the Chicago Park District.

  1. SHOWCASE: The Kilbourn Park Advisory Council (KPAC) would like to invite you to become a community partner at this year’s Kilbourn Park Summer Festival (for free)! Wildlight Yoga introduces our newest micro-adventure yoga series, Brew + Asana, where the poses and the beer will both flow freely as we take our mats out of the studio and into the bar. We're collaborating with Fischman Public House, 4058 N. Milwaukee, and will provide a 60-minute all levels Vinyasa class that will wrap up with a cold beer just in time for brunch.

6th Annual Old Irving Park Beer & BBQ Challenge

Chicago's Old Irving Park neighborhood is hosting its 6th annual Old Irving Park Beer & BBQ Challenge on Saturday, August 3 from 1pm to 5pm in the St. Viator campus lot located at 3644 N, Kedvale Avenue.  The event has raised over $110,000 so far benefiting student programs, facilities, and athletics at St. Viator School & Parish. Tickets start at $65 and are available at www.beerbbqchallenge.com

The showdown will feature 20 pit-master and local craft brewer teams who will present unique BBQ pork and beer pairings for attendees to sample and then vote for their favorites. This year, teams will also compete for votes from expert judges like pit master and restauranteur Barry Sorkin of Smoque BBQ, chef and restauranteur Lisa Fosler Kelly, and craft beer pairing expert Jennifer Brechner of Brooklyn Brewery.  

Attendees and judges will cast their votes across 40 beer samples and 20 BBQ tastings for the best beer, BBQ, and beer & BBQ pairing!

Tickets Details

Both General Admission and VIP tickets are good for event entry (VIP is one hour early) plus one (1) BBQ sample from each of the 20 teams, one (1) beer pairings from each, one (1) additional beer offering, and a commemorative glass.

General Admission ticket holders ($65 advance purchase; $75 at the door) have an event entry of 1pm while VIP ticket holders ($100 advance purchase; $110 at the door) have an event entry of 12pm and are also the first to try the beer and BBQ, as well as mingle with the celebrity judges.
