As part of ongoing Cyber Safety education, we'd like to remind you how to detect and respond to phishing or other suspicious emails. These emails attempt to obtain your system credentials or other personal information.
The Department of Innovation & Technology and City vendors, like Microsoft, will NEVER contact you by email, text, or telephone to request that you provide personal or account information. Below is an example of a recent suspicious attempt with tips on how to Spot the Phish.
Here's how to report suspicious emails:
- To report suspicious emails address your reporting email to "email@example.com" or for a scam/ phishing message address your email to "firstname.lastname@example.org" and "DoIT_InfoSec@cityofchicago.org".
- Then attach the phishing scam message to that email, leave the body of the new message empty, and then send the email.
- Once reported, DoIT will take appropriate action to resolve, and will get back to you if needed. Any questions should be directed to DoIT_InfoSec@cityofchicago.org.
